Ongoing Projects and Future Plans

Construction of new chicken sheds

Over the past 18 months various projects have been embarked upon, many of which will help the Home to sustain itself in the future.  Some of these include:
Construction of chicken sheds to raise funds from selling eggs

Rain water harvesting project to pump rain water around the Home

Renovation of a house, now run as the ‘Sanyu Guest House'

Connection to the main sewer, eliminating septic tanks

The construction of a new kitchen/dining room, including a new log burning wood stove expected to save up to 70% of the fuel.

The creation of ‘Sanyu Craft Shop’ selling African crafts, statues, clothing, sandals, jewelry, etc.

Rewiring of the entire Home, which was electrically unsafe

Some of the future plans for Sanyu include:
Starting a ‘child sponsorship’ programme.

Starting a ‘Friends of Sanyu’ plan for regular donors/supporters

Starting a pig farm as an income generation project (proposal currently being written)

The construction of a further guest house and properties

Renovation of the baby milk preparation area

Renovation of the children’s potty and bathing area

The creation/construction of new smaller bedrooms for the children

The construction/installation of a safe play ground area

Renovation of the classroom block, including a new toilet and changing facilility

The new water tower to harvest rainwate
